Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I drive my car after getting my windshield replaced?
A. Yes, However safety standards recommend limiting your driving for 24 hours. You should not drive for long distances at freeway speeds within that 24 hours but city driving is fine.
Q. Can I remove the tape on the outside of my windshield?
A. Special tape may have been applied to secure your windshield moldings while the adhesive cures. We recommend you keep this tape on for 24 hours and remove it at a 45-degree angle. If you do not have any tape on your vehicle - do not worry.
It doesn't mean your replacement was not done professionally.
Q. Can I go through a carwash?
A.Not for at least 24 hours. The adhesive we used during the replacement needs time to cure.
Q. Can I wash my windshield by hand?
A.You can wash your windshield but be careful about the products you use. Do not use any abrasive cleaners or those containing ammonia or alcohol. Lurie Glass does sell a glass cleaner that is safe for your new windshield.
Q. I noticed my drivers door glass was rolled down a little bit even though I had my windshield replaced. Any reason why?
A.Yes, we rolled that window down to keep the pressure from building up in your vehicle. When you shut the doors in you car we ask that not only keep the window down but also that you refrain from slamming the doors.
